Hoowaki conducts advanced research, development, engineering, and design of micro and nano surfaces to solve difficult friction and surface tension problems.

We manufacture those micro surfaces onto mold, die or roll tooling so that our customers can use the tooling to make improved rubber and plastic products. The invisible, mechanical shapes of the micro and nano surfaces replace chemistry allowing elimination of coatings and lubricants and permitting low cost materials to replace expensive materials. We use 5-axis micro precision CNC milling, EDM, laser, electroforming and other techniques to add the surfaces to tooling.

Hoowaki is recognized as a world-wide leader in design of micro surfaces. The field of bio-mimetic engineering is based on copying surfaces from the natural world such as from Lotus leaves or gecko feet. Hoowaki takes this a step further by applying fundamental science and engineering principles to extend performance beyond that occurring in nature. Hoowaki has more than 15 filed and granted patents.
